What we collect

We use your IP address for two purposes:

• To answer you faster. We run servers in several regions, and your approximate location decides which one handles your query. Those servers only answer API requests for technical information.
• To keep the service up. The search is free and open, which makes it easy to overload. We use the address to limit excessive automated use.

It is not stored alongside what you searched for, and it is not used to work out who you are. Nothing else about you is collected.

What stays on your device

We set no cookies, and load no trackers, analytics, or third-party scripts.

The one thing we do leave: if you close the review invitation that can appear after a search, your browser remembers that so we do not ask again. One value, no identifier, never sent to us. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Cloudflare delivers this site to you. Handling your request means Cloudflare processes it, including your IP address.

Our data

Our data comes from open sources: domain names, and where each one sits in the expiration lifecycle. It contains no personal registration information.

Legal basis and retention

Using your IP address to route and protect the service rests on our legitimate interest in running a working, available service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is used while your request is handled and for a short period afterwards, then it is gone.

Your rights

We do not store your IP address linked to any identity, so in the ordinary case we cannot retrieve records belonging to a particular person. If you can supply additional information identifying a specific access, write to us and we will handle your request on that basis (Article 11 GDPR).

You can lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW).

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
